MLD is a light, skin-stretching massage technique that helps promote the movement of lymphatic fluid out of the swollen limb.
Various health conditions can interrupt the normal flow of lymph fluid, causing it to build up in certain areas of the body, often in the arms or legs, where it can cause swelling. This condition is called lymphedema. MLD is often used alongside other treatments (such as compression bandages and exercise) to help “decongest” blocked areas.
